Community Helpers & Belonging Activities | Learning Session

Long before children can explain what a community is, they know how it feels to belong to one — and that sense of place is built in small, everyday moments in your room.

In this Learning Lab session we walk through three simple setups on the theme of Community Helpers & Belonging: a Community Helper Discovery Station for exploring the people and roles children already know, My Community Collage for representing the places and faces that matter to them, and a Community Construction Challenge for building the spaces a community needs. Each one uses materials you likely already have, and each comes with the questions to ask and the skills to watch for — language development, social awareness, understanding of community roles, and a stronger sense of belonging.
