Ontario and the federal government have extended the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) agreement for another four years. For many child care operators and families, this is some welcome stability. But while the agreement secures funding through 2031, it does not promise further fee reductions for parents.
For now, Ontario’s average child care fee remains around $19 per day, capped at $22, with that commitment in place until June 30, 2027. At the same time, growing waitlists and the ongoing need for more affordable spaces continue to put pressure on operators. Some parents are left sitting on waitlists that go nowhere.

For child care centres, navigating the funding landscape can mean managing parent fees alongside government subsidies, grants, reporting requirements, and changing funding rules, all while keeping billing accurate.
That’s where ChildFriendly Pro can help. Its built-in subsidy and grant tools make it easier to manage government-funded amounts, parent balances, invoices, and payments in one place. Instead of juggling spreadsheets and disconnected systems, operators can keep funding and billing information organized and accessible.
As Ontario’s child care system continues to evolve, having the right tools can make the administrative side a whole lot easier.
