Cut what you do not enforce
A policy in the handbook you never apply is worse than no policy. The template’s sample bullets — weekly email updates, monthly fire drills, a Parent Committee — should stay only if they are true of your center.

Fees, program names and licensing rules change. A dated annual version with a short ‘what changed’ note keeps families current.
The last page asks families to sign and return an acknowledgment form, which is not part of the template. Make your own, or use e-signature in your family app, so you are not chasing paper at the door.
Do it digitally in ChildFriendly Pro
Families complete registration, sign the parent handbook and give consents from their phone. Everything lands in the child’s file with an audit trail, and nothing starts until the file is complete.

Read more FAQsMost licensing regulations require written policies to be available to families — illness, medication, guidance, emergency procedures — and many inspectors ask to see them. A handbook is the standard way to meet that requirement.
The template is 12 pages, with one page per section and a few bullet points on each. In Canva you can add or delete pages to suit, expand the sections your licensing rules require in more detail, and move long procedures (like the full emergency plan) to appendices.
State the notice period for fee changes in the handbook itself (30 or 60 days is common) and issue a dated addendum rather than reprinting everything.
Yes — a signed acknowledgement is your evidence that families were informed of policies, which matters for fee disputes and licensing. The template’s last page tells families to sign and return an acknowledgment form; the form itself is not included, so prepare one. Collect it at enrolment and again when the handbook changes materially.
The sample text uses US spelling (enrollment, behavior) and the contact block reads [City, State, Zip Code], while the policies themselves are general. Everything is editable, so change the wording and address format to suit your location.
